Ian
helps to organise these traditional, amateur, friendly
Highland Games, which are the oldest established games in
the area. Come and observe, or better still, take part!
There are a huge variety of competitions from dancing, piping,
heavy events, road and track races. The massed pipe band is
an unmissable spectacle. www.nethybridge.com/highlandgames

Ian helped forge links with a very special small town in new
Zealand, who have their own Highland Games. It's called Turakina,
and the Nethy games are now twinning with Turakina. See all

Abernethy
Gardens Tour
We decided to raise
cash for the Abernethy Highland Games in June 2005 by
organising 10 gardens in the area to be open.
These
differed in size, style and use, and gave the opportunity
to see the plants which will grow in our harsh winter
climate. It was also an opportunity to take in the sensational
views in this area - each from a different angle. Several
gardens gave complimentary drinks and the ticket price
included tea / coffee and light nibbles with the opportunity
to have lunch at Auchendean for just a small amount
extra. All proceeds went towards helping the Abernethy
Highland Games (see above) and was so successful that
we hope to repeat the exercise with a few different
gardens most years.
